You know how some people can act, dance and sing and they call them a triple threat? Well, my friend Jillian Rae is what you might call a quintuple threat....or sextuple or septuple or octuple or nonuple no wait a decuple threat! The list goes on and on but I ran out of uple's. Most people probably know her from being the Tambourine player in the Brian Just Band but get this she also plays really bad ass violin, has the strongest singing voice I've ever heard and writes heartfelt sometimes angry love songs with her band the jillian rae music (band). Next Saturday night she is going to be releasing her album Heartbeat. You should be there. Everyone should! The first Wednesday of every month we take the record store on the road and set up at St. Paul’s legendary Turf Club. Our take on the DJ set is a little different – You can can buy anything you hear. Any record the DJ puts on is for sale (When its over of course). Hymie’s has even lined up some great guest DJs to come by the shop the night before and pick a crate of records to spin.
We do a little crate digging for you, too, bringing a dozen filled with gems from the shop – New vinyl is 10% off at the Turf Club and used vinyl is 15% off! Pabst Tall Boys are only $3 during the Hymie’s Roadshow, along with the Turf Club’s regular drink specials – It all starts at 8 the first Wednesday of every month! You can follow the link above for the Turf Club’s website. Its located just off the corner of Snelling and University at 1601 University Avenue.
