I saw these beautiful eclectic edgy ensemble-rs at the Ritz last summer and fell in love. I immediately got to work on creating some sounds to share with these tip toeing floating dynamic dancers. I recorded some rain and crickets, I played Casio keyboards with my elbows, I dusted off old 4 track recordings of my father playing the piano and slowed them down and sped them up. I was very much awake during the process but very much in a dream as well. I look forward to seeing and hearing these two pieces as one. Like a traveler visiting a place he has only seen in a photograph. Like watching a song become water and stream and swirl to other worlds. It's going to be lovely.
I have these two friends Lucy and Dave that I get to sing songs with every Valentines day at the Cedar. We do a lot of singing together leading up to the show and sometimes when the harmonies are just right it feels like a smile or a hug or a smiley vocal embrace. I really like those two and next to my wife, I can't imagine a better two people to spend Valentines with every year. This year features my Cosmic Country outfit the Blackberry Brandy Boys. Now, country songs are notoriously sad by nature, but don't worry we found some songs to hold hands to and maybe even steal a smiley vocal embrace.
